Privacy policy

Last updated: 17 October 2026

VevoLead publishes honest product reviews and comparisons. You can read every article without an account. This page explains what we collect when you use the site, why, how long we keep it and how to control it.

Who is responsible

VevoLead (blog.vevolead.com), a product of VERAPLOT, a company based in France (see our legal notice), is responsible for the personal data described here. For any question or request about your data, write to hello@vevolead.com.

What we collect

  • Newsletter: your email address, the topics and language you chose, the dates you signed up, confirmed or unsubscribed, and a record of the consent you gave (its wording, time and the page it came from). Nothing is sent until you click the link in the confirmation email.
  • Reader account (optional, to vote and comment): your email address, display name, language and password (stored hashed by Amazon Cognito), or, if you sign in with Google, the name, email and picture Google shares. Your topics and email preferences are kept with it.
  • Comments: the name you display, the text, its date and the email we use to tell you about replies (never shown). Every new comment is checked automatically before it appears: simple rules, then Amazon Bedrock's Nova model, which reads the text only, in the EU, and keeps nothing. Comments flagged as spam, abusive or doubtful are held for a person to review. You can delete your own comments at any time.
  • Likes and shares: a count per article, and for likes an anonymous random identifier so the same visitor is counted once. It is not linked to your name or email.
  • Technical data: like any website, our hosting provider records standard request data (IP address, browser type, page requested, time) to keep the site secure and working.

We do not ask for your postal address, phone number or payment details, and we never sell personal data.

Cookies and similar technologies

  • vl_lang (VevoLead, 1 year): remembers the language you picked. It is needed for the site to work as you asked and does not track you.
  • vl_id and vl_rt (VevoLead, only if you sign in; 1 hour and 60 days): keep you signed in to your reader account. They are needed for the service you asked for and are deleted when you sign out.
  • vevolead-theme (stored in your browser, not sent to us): remembers whether you picked light or dark mode.
  • Advertising cookies (Google, only on blog.vevolead.com): used to show and measure ads, and, if you agree, to personalise them. In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland they are only set after you choose in Google's consent message.
  • Audience measurement (Google Analytics, only on blog.vevolead.com): counts visits and clicks on shop links so we know which comparisons help. It only loads if you accept in the same Google consent message; if you refuse, nothing is sent to Google Analytics.
  • Amazon and other shops: when you click a product link you leave VevoLead, and the shop may set its own cookies to know the visit came from us. Their privacy policies apply there.
  • YouTube videos: an embedded video only loads, from youtube-nocookie.com, when you press play.

You can change or withdraw your choices at any time, as easily as you gave them, with the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of every page. You can also delete cookies in your browser settings.

Advertising by Google

We use Google AdSense to show ads. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on those visits.

You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google Ads Settings, and opt out of other vendors' cookies at aboutads.info or youronlinechoices.eu. Google explains how it uses data from partner sites here.

Affiliate links

Product links are affiliate links: if you buy after clicking one, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. Shops only report sales to us in aggregate; we never receive your name, address or what else you bought. Commissions never decide our verdicts.

Why we use your data

  • Your consent: newsletter emails, advertising cookies and audience measurement. You can withdraw it at any time, which does not affect what happened before.
  • Our legitimate interest: publishing and moderating comments, counting likes and shares, keeping the site secure and preventing abuse.
  • Legal obligations: keeping proof of consent and answering requests from authorities when the law requires it.

Who processes it and where

Our data is stored with Amazon Web Services in the European Union (Paris region), in Amazon DynamoDB, reader accounts in Amazon Cognito, comments are checked with Amazon Bedrock, and emails are sent through Amazon SES. Google processes data for ads under its own policies and may transfer it outside the EU under the safeguards required by the GDPR. These providers only act on our instructions or under their own published terms; nobody else receives your data.

How long we keep it

  • Newsletter: as long as you are subscribed. Unconfirmed signups are deleted after 7 days. After you unsubscribe we keep only your address and the date, so we never email you again by mistake.
  • Reader account: until you delete it from your settings ("Delete my account"), which erases it at once; your comments then stay, signed "Former reader", without your name or email.
  • Comments: as long as the article is online, or until you delete them or ask us to.
  • Likes: as long as the article is online, without any link to your identity.
  • Technical logs: a few weeks at most, unless needed to investigate abuse.
  • Cookies: see the durations above; Google's cookies last up to 13 months.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can access, correct or delete your data, object to or restrict its use, ask for a copy in a portable format and withdraw your consent. Every newsletter has a link to change your topics or unsubscribe in one click. For anything else, email hello@vevolead.com; we answer within one month.

If you think we have not respected your rights, you can complain to your data protection authority, in France the CNIL.

Children

VevoLead is not meant for children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we use your data, we update this page and its date. Important changes are announced on the site, and in the newsletter for subscribers.

Ads and affiliate links

VevoLead is free to read thanks to advertising and affiliate links. Ads are shown by Google and clearly marked. When you buy through one of our product links, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you; as an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. Neither ads nor commissions ever decide our verdict: if a product has flaws, we say so. Prices are checked at publication and can change.
